Classic hiking and mountaineering, but also long-distance hiking, which is becoming increasingly popular, are among the main activities offered by Zillertal mountain summers, be it to inviting alpine farms or peaks with stunning views, following in the footsteps of mountaineering legend Peter Habeler, or on a guided hike in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. The Berlin High Trail is famous far beyond the provincial borders. It takes seven days to conquer this demanding long-distance hike of 70 kilometres encompassing 6,700 metres in elevation difference. The eponymous Berlin Hut is a listed masterpiece from the 19th century and bears witness to the pioneering days of alpinism. 

Climbing: from via ferrata to bouldering walls

The climbing mecca around the mountaineering village of Ginzling is a magnet for sports enthusiasts wanting to test their limits on the rock. The first-class "Ewige Jagdböden" climbing garden, imposing "Kaseler Alm" bouldering rocks and demanding "Nasenwand" Nature Park via ferrata are particularly popular. Moreover, the versatile range of climbing facilities is complemented by alternative via ferrata routes in the region in varying degrees of difficulty.

Biking: from leisurely to action-packed

The 800 km well-developed cycling network throughout the entire Zillertal Valley offers a variety of cycling tours for every level of ability. Those wanting to climb the mountain by bike can do so, for example, on the Zillertaler Höhenstrasse. The more leisurely inclined can ease the ascent by catching a gondola and start their bike tour from the top lift station. The range of "Bike & Hike Tours" is quite unique in the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region. The long tributary valleys are virtually predestined for this combination of bike and hiking tours. Longer distances seem shorter by bike, before the time saved can be used to hike to a higher mountain hut or summit. As a special service, the holiday region has set up its own bike parking spaces, which allow you to park your bikes safely.

Events: from musical to sporting

Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region is famed for its numerous musical events that thrill guests from near and afar. A large number of events are again planned for summer 2021, which will be held in compliance with prevailing regulations, together with comprehensive safety concepts. The popular brass music festival, Blechlawine2.0, will kick things off, followed by finer music highlights such as "Hooo Ruck am Berg" with veteran Erwin Aschenwald and his group "Die Mayrhofner". The "Fetzign” will entertain audiences with an impressive autumn festival in September. Moreover, the customary open-air concerts and a colourful entertainment programme are planned for the many outdoor restaurants and cafés.

As in previous years, Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region is a magnet for running enthusiasts. Running events provide yet more incentive to visit Mayrhofen-Hippach this summer. The season kicks off with the Red Bull Almauftrieb, followed by Schlegeis3000 Skyrace mountain runs and the traditional Steinbock march and run. The running season culminates with the third edition of the Ultrak Mayrhofen Zillertal in September.
